Potassium manganite

Potassium manganite is the chemical compound with the formula K₄MnO₄. The brown-coloured manganite anion is a significant if often overlooked product of the reduction of permanganate. This Mn(IV) species is produced by dissolving MnO₂ in strongly alkaline solution. [MnO₄]^4- is the conjugate base of the hypothetical acid Mn(OH)₄. Alternatively, MnO₄^4- can be generated by reduction of MnO₄^3-.
