Piazza Colonna
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Piazza in Rome, named after the Column of Marcus Aurelius which had stood since antiquity.
The piazza itself was assigned in the 1500's by Pope Sixtus V, and is near to Piazza Venezia and the Roman Pantheon.
The piazza is rectangular and lies at the entrance to the Palazzo Chigi, previously the Austro-hungarian empire's embassy, but is now the seat of the Italian government.
There is also a fountain in the piazza.
