OpenBet
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
OpenBet is a major gambling backend product from British based Orbis Technology. The product is already used by major gambling companies, both in the UK and overseas, to manage their on-line betting Web sites.
Orbis' OpenBet presents seven software modules that include Sportsbook, Casino, Rake Games, Fixed Odd Games, Exchange, Retail and Marketing. The OpenBet platform enables gambling site operators to provide their customers with the ability to bet and play across multiple products and platforms using a single account. It is believed that it is currently the only platform that enables customers to do this.
OpenBet uses a standard three-tier architecture on Unix consisting of the OpenBet database, the application server and a web server. The database used is Informix Dynamic Server, typically on Linux or Solaris. The application server used is designed specifically by Orbis to support high-volume, high-availability betting applications. The application server is written in C with several specialised libraries for specific tasks. For games and casino, Java servlets are used contained in Tomcat or Resin.
Apache 1.3, the web server, acts as a proxy to the application servers for both front-end and back-office applications and to the Java Servlets for the games and casino API. Apache communicates with the Application Server via a custom Apache module.
The OpenBet system is used by a number of the major online casino operators. These include:
