Ooky Spooky is an as-of-yet unreleased album by the dark cabaret/darkwave artist Voltaire. According to the most recent reports, (on Voltaire's personal MySpace blog) it is to be realsed in June 2007.[1] This is backed up by Projekt Records' official site,[2] but Voltaire's personal site still claims that it is 'due' to be released in 2006, and that it is called Ookie Spookie.[3]

Voltaire worked with Amanda Palmer, of The Dresden Dolls, on the song Stuck With You, which is about an unhappily married couple who cannot divorce because of their religion.[1]

The track You Love This is a parody of Rammstein, and the track Thriller is a cover of the Michael Jackson version.[3]

Live versions of the songs Cantina, Zombie Prostitute and Hell in a Hand Basket have already been released on Live!.[4] A live version of Hell In A Hand Basket also appeared on Zombie Prostitute..., as did the track Zombie Prostitute, and a demo of Cantina. Also appearing on the Maxi-CD was the Spanish Version of the song Day Of The Dead.[5]

Contents

Different sources provide different information, and so the three available sources are listed.

Voltaire has hinted, on his blog, that the album will contain Land of the Dead, which he has written by request of the producers of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, who were the people who originally asked him to write BRAINS!.[6] The song is due to appear on the direct-to-TV film Billy & Mandy's Big Boogey Adventure.[citation needed] Also, he has confirmed that there is the song "Stuck With You" on the album, and has placed a streamable version on his MySpace profile page.[1][7]

The Projekt Records site says that the songs from Zombie Prostitute... will feature on Ooky Spooky. Voltaire has been playing these songs for years, and fans have asked how long it is until they are released. The songs mentioned are "Hell in a Hand Basket", "Zombie Prostitute" and "Cantina", although also featuring on the single are "China Girl" (originally by David Bowie and "Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead-Spanish Version)".[5]

This track listing is taken from Voltaire's own site, and this may not be the final order for the album. Voltaire has since stated that he 'decided to scrap all of the tracks and start over', and so it is probable that the final listing will be different to this one.[6]
