Nkhoma is a hill (mountain) in the Dedza district of Malawi. Dutch missionaries established a mission and the mission is named after the hill. Nkhoma is also a surname common among the Chewa and Tumbuka people. All those that have this last name can trace their ancestors' migration route through the Dedza are in the 17th centuary.
