In the 1065 Roberto the Guiscardo conquered it under the Norman dominion of Ruggiero 1. In XIII° century takes over the House of Swabia; under Fred II° Nicòtera reached the economic wealth. To make more profitable such industries and the commerce, Fred favored the installation of the Hebrews that put today still in the zone said "Giudecca",Hebrews Getto to the shade of the castle and the bishop to be protected from the Christian persecutions.

In the XV° century, under the kingdom of Alfonso of Aragon , it passed under the yoke of the feudalism and it decayed. In 1806 the French revolution swept the feudal system and Nicotera.
