Narayanrao Peshwa

'Narayanrao Peshwa'(born 1749 - 1773) became the Peshwa(1772-1773) after the death of Madhavrao Peshwa in 1772. He was murdered by the bodyguards of his uncle Raghunathrao in 1773 in Shaniwarwada in Pune. The murder was committed in the Shaniwarwada palace on the orders of Raghunathrao's wife Anandi bai. The soldiers who had been deputed to capture him were given orders to hold him (dhara). But Anandi bai changed them to 'mara' (kill) by changing 'dh' in dhara to 'm' making it 'mara'.
