Morro Bay kangaroo rats live in the sandy to rocky soils. Though some still like the grasslands. There burrows enter the ground at an angle. They primary food is seeds, creosote bush, purslane, ocotillo, and grama grass. They have 2 to 3 litters a year. In each litter they have 1-7. Mostly they have 2. They are born with no hair, eyes and ears closed, and toothless.
