Contents

Molesey F.C. was officially formed in 1953 when Molesey St Paul's merged with another club. [1] They won the Surrey Senior League in 1958, just five years after their formation.

Molesey played in the Spartan League (with a best finish of 3rd in 1971-72) before joining the Athenian League between 1973, initially in Division Two. They joined the Isthmian League Division Two in 1977 and have remained there ever since. In 1990 they gained promotion to Division One, followed in 1993 by promotion to the Premier Division, where they spent three seasons. Relegation to Division One in 1996 was followed by a further drop into Division Two in 1999. They have remained at this level since then, although due to league reorganisations they now find themselves in Division One South.

Future West Bromwich Albion star Cyrille Regis turned out for Molesey at the start of his career.

Molesey plays at the Walton Road Stadium. The capacity of the ground is 4,000, and the highest attendance was 1,255 versus Sutton United in the Surrey Senior Cup semi-final in 1966.

  1. ^ The club's records do not appear to record the name of the second club involved in the merger
  2. ^ Molesey also finished 3rd in Isthmian League Division Two in 1978-79, which could be said to have been at Step 2 at the time, but in the absence of a formal non-league pyramid at the time this is debatable
