Mioveni is a town in Argeş County, Romania, near the city of Piteşti. As of 2002, it had a population of 35,849.
It was first mentioned in a written record in 1485. It developed much in the 1970s after the Dacia car manufacturing plant was built nearby. There is also a Nuclear Research Institute, that builds components and materials for the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant, and a high security prison. Its mayor, Vasile Costescu, died in May 2006. He was succeeded by his vice-mayor, Ion Georgescu (both members of the Social Democratic Party).
