The Memorial area of Houston, Texas is a wealthy district west of the Galleria. It is bounded on the south by Buffalo Bayou, on the north by the Katy Freeway (Interstate 10) on the east by the 610 Loop and on the west by Beltway 8. Within its boundaries is the area called "The Villages", which includes the cities of Bunker Hill Village, Hedwig Village, Spring Valley, Hilshire Village, Piney Point Village, and Hunters Creek Village. These independent cities operate autonomously of Houston and have joint fire and police coverage.

The surrounding parts of Houston in Memorial are called the "Near Villages".

A number of celebrities live within Memorial. Among them are Astros Lance Berkman, Roger Clemens and Jeff Bagwell, Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander, Basketball star Steve Francis, Continental Airlines CEO Larry Kellner, statesman James Baker and former president George H.W. Bush. Hilary Duff also grew up in Memorial before relocating to California. Michael Dell was born and raised in the Memorial area.

Pupils in the Memorial area attend schools in the Spring Branch Independent School District. Despite being partially located in Houston, it is not served by the Houston Independent School District.

It is served by the Spring Branch Memorial Branch of Harris County Public Library (the Spring Branch Memorial Branch is in Hedwig Village).

Memorial is in Texas's 7th congressional district and is a reliably Republican area in both federal and state elections.[1].

The Memorial City Mall is located in the area. The area is also served by the Town and Country shopping center.
