Marvin Marsh or Grampa Marsh is a fictional character in the animated series South Park. He is Stan Marsh's grandfather who wants to die and is voiced by Trey Parker, who also provides the voices for both his presumed son and his grandson. Grampa is 102, as stated in the episode Death, which means that would have been quite old to have conceived Randy. This massive age difference has yet to be explained.
However, he has also been referred to as Stan's maternal grandfather as well. If this is not a continuity error, which in the style of South Park it probably is, then both Stan and Shelley are inbred.
In the episode Grey Dawn, Marvin Marsh revealed that he worked 55 years in a steel mill. In World War II, he flew a Spitfire over Germany, probably a reference to one of the four groups of United States Army Air Forces stationed in England and the Mediterranean equipped with the Supermarine Spitfire, a British single-seat fighter.
In his first appearance Grampa Marsh desperately wants to die because he is bored with life. After his own failed attempt at suicide, he turns to Stan (whom he refers to as "Billy") to do the job for him. Stan approaches various people for advice on the matter but all are unwilling to answer. When Grampa Marsh eventually does convince Stan to kill him, Death's sudden appearance foils the plan (although Death was actually looking for Kenny). Death points into the light where Grampa Marsh's own grandfather, whom he had killed when he was a boy, convinces him to wait for natural causes.
In the season seven episode "Grey Dawn", South Park's elderly residents are angered when their driving licenses are taken away after their bad driving kills a number of people. He started a movement to let the elderly keep their licenses, but it ultimately failed. He was later caught driving without his license (which had been taken away) and he was arrested. However, he was soon rescued by the AARP, whom he teams up with to start randomly killing anyone in sight. After a brief period of complete control of South Park, and plans to overtake the entire country, his group is thwarted when the four main South Park boys lock them out of the Country Kitchen Buffet (their only source of food). The group eventually surrenders, and life returns to normal.
- Death- Wants to die badly and gets Stan to help him.
- The Red Badge of Gayness- Leader of the North during the Civil War reenactment; leads the group in its attempt to stop the Southern reenactors from taking over the country. Also says "You bastards!" when Kenny dies, instead of Kyle.
- Quintuplets 2000- Complains that Stan and the others shouldn't be taken to a French Canadian circus to learn about the arts; has sex with the quintuplets' grandmother, during which she dies.
- Grey Dawn- Leads the old people to try and prevent their licenses being taken away.
