MTV K

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MTV K is a channel dedicated to Korean Americans that showcases the best of Korean culture while providing a platform for Korean American talent. This premium channel launched on DirectTV on June 27, 2006 with viewer-voted music video, Korean pop sensation BoA’s, "My Name." MTV K is presented in English and combines the best programming from its international affiliates with specially created packaging, shows, news and events.

MTV K is the newest channel to launch under the MTV World banner, after MTV Chi and MTV Desi (for Chinese and South Asian Americans, respectively).

On February 13th, MTV K and it's two other MTV World counterparts (MTV Chi and MTV Desi) were shut down during a MTV-wide restructuring campaign, which entailed 250 layoffs within MTV Networks.
