The Liverpool Students' Union (LSU) is the representative body for all students studying at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) in Liverpool, England; and is not to be confused with University of Liverpool Guild of Students, which is the Student Union for the University of Liverpool; membership is automatic upon enrolment.

The Union currently is the representative body of around 22,000 students studying at LJMU, locate primarily in Liverpool.

Liverpool Students' Union was formally known as Liverpool Polytechnic Students Union (LPSU) until the old Polytechnic was granted University Status in 1992, when it became Liverpool John Moores University and the Union became Liverpool Students' Union.

LSU operates at 5 sites across the University. The main Union building, the 'Haigh' (named after long serving Union secretary, Sheila Haigh who retired in 1983, the year the new building opened) is located on Maryland Street, between Rodney Street and Hope Street. Within the Haigh can be found the Union's Executive and Management Office's, Welfare Department, Marketing Department, Entertainment Department, Training & Development, Committee rooms, Training Suite, Student Activities Centres, Union shop and 3 main bars (Scholars, Sanctuary and the Cooler).

The Union operates a Bar (Mo's Tavern) and a Shop at the Byrom Street Campus and a similar Bar (Greenshields) and shop at the IM Marsh Campus.

The Union operates an arts shop in the Hope Street Building and a Shop/Off licence at the Atlantic Point Halls of Residence. The Union ran a Gym facility up until 2006 when the building it was located in began redevelopment.

In 2007, due to bad management, some of the facilities were forced to close down. These include the Atlantic Point Shop, Byrom Street Bar (Mo's Tavern) and the Art Shop at Hope Street.

Employing around 80 full time and 120 part time staff the Union is governed by an Executive Committee and Union Council. The Executive Committee comprises six full time sabbatical positions and 9 part time non-sabbatical positions. These positions are:

President, Vice President (Recreation & Resources), Vice President (Education & Community Action), Vice President (Communications & Media), Vice President (Welfare), Vice President (Equal Opportunities),

Mature Students Officer, Disability Rights Officer, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Rights Officer, Women's Officer, Race Equality Officer, IM Marsh Campus Officer, Northern Campus Officer, Campaigns Officer, General Executive Committee Officer,

The positions of the Executive Committee have changed numerous times over the past 20 years. The most recent changes were in 2003 which saw the creation of the full time position, Vice President Education & Community Action (formally known as the Vice President Academic Affairs). In 2004 one of the two non-sabbatical General Executive Committee Officer was changed to the Campaigns Officer in order to assist union campaign projects.

Currently the former Vice President (Welfare)(2002-2003), Gemma Tummelty, is the President of the National Union of Students.

In 2007, because the LSU had no Financial Manager for 12 months, the LSU incurred around £200,000 of debt.
