From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kumar Gaurav is an Indian film actor and the son of the late actor Rajendra Kumar.

He made his film debut with the film Love Story (1981) produced and directed by his father which was a blockbuster hit.[1]. All youngsters started emulating "Bunty" (his nick-name). However after the huge success in the beginning, he had a long line of flops. He tried several times to regain his brief stint of popularity, but never succeeded although he did have box office hit with the film, which was made by his father Rajendra Kumar Naam (1986) which starred his wife's brother Sanjay Dutt who managed to have lot of footing which propelled his career. Sanjay Dutt got him a chance to work with the top actress of 1990's Madhuri Dixit in Phool, but that didn't bring him any luck either.

Later he took a long break from acting and returned in 2000 with a supporting role in Gang (2000) and then as one of the six protognists in Kaante (2002). In 2004 he appeared in his first American film Guiana 1838 (2004). This award winning film by Rohit Jagessar grossed the highest screen average at North American box office on opening weekend and is on the Top 25 all time highest screen average charts. Guiana 1838 tells the story of Indians arriving on the British colony of British Guiana, now Guyana, as Indentured servants amidst the abolition of slavery during the nineteenth century. The trailer can be viewed on the website www.guiana1838.com. Kumar Gaurav is currently shooting for a silent film entitled 'My Daddy Strongest'.[2]

He is married to Namrata Dutt, daughter of legendary actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis and sister of actor Sanjay Dutt. He and his brother-in-law Sanjay Dutt worked together in two films Naam and Kaante.
