Kolokotronis Street

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kolokotronis Street (Greek: Odos Kolokotronis), is one of the major streets in Patras and it runs one way westbound. The street begins from Karaiskakis near up to Agios Andreas Street, its total length is approximately 600 m and it has 7 blocks all of them with traffic lights. The road contains one lane with two parking spaces on each side.

Residential buildings with neo-classical and modern architectures covers the entire street, restaurants covers within the Olgas Square in the centre of the road and several banks near the end of the street.

The avenue was paved in the late-19th century along with neo-classical buildings were added. After World War II and the Greek Civil War, the road was finally paved in the 1950s and several buildings were rebuilt. Traffic lights were installed in the 1960s and the 1970s. The street became one way westbound on its entirety.
