Ken Stringfellow (born October 30, 1968 in Hollywood, California) is an American musician, best known for his work with The Posies, R.E.M., and the re-formed Big Star, alongside fellow Posie Jon Auer. His association with R.E.M. extends to the mid-90s Seattle scene, where he first met guitarist Peter Buck. He also plays with Buck in Scott McCaughey's The Minus 5. Ken also spent time recording with Lagwagon in the late-1990's. The musician helped craft 1997's Double Plaidinum, adding a unique flare to the band's high-paced melodic brand of punk rock. Stringfellow is recognizable for his flamboyant hair color - often a dark red, though currently dark brown/black.

He has currently released three solo albums: This Sounds Like Goodbye (1997, on the Hidden Agenda label), Touched (2001, on Manifesto Records), and Soft Commands (2004, on Yep Roc Records). Touched was also released also by Pop Tones for Japan with a different cover (from Robyn Hitchcock's Airspace) and a bonus track (Pop Tones also released a third version of Touched, with the same cover but without the bonus track).

Soft Commands was released as an international version by Rykodisc. The international version has the same cover but four bonus tracks:

  1. Never My Love - The Association
  2. Down to the Wire - Neil Young
  3. New Test Leper - R.E.M.
  4. Knocks Me off My Feet - Stevie Wonder

Stringfellow is currently married to a French artist, Dominique Sassi, and they have a daughter. He was previously married to The Fastbacks' bass player Kim Warnick. They divorced in 1996, after a three-year marriage.

In 2003, Stringfellow and Jon Auer released Private Sides, a six-song split EP (Arena Rock Recording Co./Rykodisc).
