Kavala International Airport, "Megas Alexandros" (Greek: Κρατικός Αερολιμένας Καβάλας, "Μέγας Αλέξανδρος") or Alexander The Great International Airport (IATA: KVAICAO: LGKV) is located in northern Greece, Kavala prefecture, eastern Macedonia.

The Airport of Kavala initially functioned in 1952 in the installations of Air Force near in the village Amygdaleonas. On 12 October 1981, it was transported in the new place where it functions today, in the town Chrisoupolis. In the beginning, it functioned as Airport for national flights. On 16 December 1987, with common decision of Ministers of Presidency and Ministers of Transports and Communications it was included in the International Airports of country. In 1992 with decision of Minister of Transports was determined the name that it brings today also it is: KAVALA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT "MEGAS ALEXANDROS". In the beginning of his operation the building infrastructure the airport included only the building of Terminal (smaller than current), then became the Tower of Control, the Fire Station and the remainder installations. In 1992 became a small extension in the building of Terminal that, fast was judged insufficient. The Runway had been manufactured, with the same dimensions that it has today. In 1998 started new extensive works of new infrastructure (building etc) and today the Airport of Kavala is functioning as single upgraded total (old and new installations together, including all the modern means of service of so much air companies of as long as passenger public, contributing in the growth of wider region.
