Jon English

Jon English (born March 26, 1949 in Hampstead, London, England) is a rock singer, actor and comedian.

In the 1970s, English was a noted rock singer, and had hits including "Get Your Love Right". His first album was called Wine Dark Sea.

He played Judas in the Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar.

In 1978, Jon English starred as Jonathan Garrett in the Australian television mini-series Against the Wind.

From 1990-1993, he played the main role of Bobby Rivers in the TV sitcom All Together Now.

In 1995, a portrait of Jon English by artist Danelle Bergstrom won the Packing Room award in the Archibald Prize.

More recently he has become a noted theatre and stage performer and writer, his writing credits including the musical Paris, about the mythology of the Trojan War. According to English, the concept for the original began in a 1982 prank: he wrote a song called "Oh, Paris", about the mythic hero rather than the French capital, just to see how many people actually listened to the lyrics.

He has also appeared in leading roles in many productions of Gilbert and Sullivan works, including The Mikado, Pirates of Penzanceand H.M.S. Pinafore, and more recently Sergeant Wilson in an Australian stage production of Dad's Army, as well as in Trazim zubara, Gdje je?.

Jon English is also an amazing entrepreneur based in Nottingham.
