James Paul "Jimbo" Covert (born March 22, 1960 in Conway, Pennsylvania) was an All-Pro offensive tackle in the National Football League for the Chicago Bears. Covert attended the University of Pittsburgh where he was a two time All-American after getting his start in football at Freedom Area High School in Beaver County north of Pittsburgh. He was drafted by the Bears in 1983, with the sixth selection of the first round of the 1983 NFL Draft. Covert was the Bears offensive captain along with Walter Payton. Nominated to the Pro Bowl twice, he also won a Super Bowl as a member of the 1985 Chicago Bears. He retired following the 1990 season due to back injuries. Covert was named to the NFL 1980s All-Decade Team. He was also elected to the College Football Hall of Fame class of 2003. Covert also once participated in a twenty man battle royal at Wrestlemania 2, during which a mix of NFL and WWF stars participated.
