Jeremy Wright (politician)

Jeremy Paul Wright (born October 24, 1972) is a British Conservative Party politician, and current Member of Parliament for the constituency of Rugby & Kenilworth.
He was first elected at the 2005 general election, when he won the seat from Andy King, the Labour MP since 1997.

Born in Taunton, Wright's parents were both teachers and both his brother and sister-in-law are Lieutenant Commanders in the Royal Navy. He was educated at Taunton School, Trinity School (New York City), the University of Exeter and the Inns of Court School of Law. He completed an internship for a US politician after university in 1994. He was called to the Bar in 1996 and since then has specialised in Criminal Law, both prosecution and defence, practising in the West Midlands area.
Before being selected as the Candidate in Rugby and Kenilworth, Jeremy was the youngest ever Chairman of Warwick and Leamington Conservative Association. He currently serves on the Constitutional Affairs Select Committee. He won his seat at his first attempt at standing as an MP.
He is married to Yvonne (formerley Salter, and Political Science 1997 graduate of the Catholic University of America), Head of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Warwick. They had first met in 1994 in America when she was at university. Jeremy and Yvonne have a daughter called Stephanie (born May 2005). When not busy in Westminster or the constituency, Jeremy's interests include travel, especially to the USA, music, James Bond films and playing golf badly.
