J. Hans D. Jensen

Johannes Hans Daniel Jensen (June 25, 1907February 11, 1973) was a German physicist who shared half of the 1963 Nobel Prize for Physics with Maria Goeppert-Mayer for their proposal of the shell nuclear model. (The remaining half of the prize was awarded to Eugene Wigner for unrelated work.)

He studied physics, mathematics, physical chemistry and philosophy at the Universities of Hamburg and Freiburg. He obtained his Ph.D in 1932 from the University of Hamburg.
