The Huntington Heroes are a 2006 expansion franchise member of the American Indoor Football Association. The Heroes played their 2006 home games at the Veterans Memorial Fieldhouse in Huntington, West Virginia. The team featured many former Marshall University football players. This is the second indoor football team for Huntington, following the River Cities LocoMotives, who played one season (2001) in the National Indoor Football League.

After losing to the Erie Freeze 46-38 at home on Sat. 3/25/06, the Heroes got revenge by taking them down 55-33 on Fri. 4/7/06 and handing them their very first loss of the season.

This season the league has re-named itself to the: AIFA for 2007. Also, the Huntington Heroes have announced their move to the Big Sandy Superstore Arena.

The team's mascot, in part due to the name of their original arena, is a tribute to local military veterans. The uniform colors feature red, white, and blue.
