Hoogstraten is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the city of Hoogstraten proper and the towns of Meer, Meerle, Meersel-Dreef, Minderhout and Wortel. On January 1, 2006 Hoogstraten had a total population of 18,582. The total area is 105.32 km² which gives a population density of 176 inhabitants per km². Every second weekend of August a Latin festival called "Antilliaanse feesten" is being held at Hoogstraten. Another cultural highlight mid August is the folkloristic event named "Begijntjes Laat Besluit".
The patron saint of Hoogstraten is St. Catharina.
