Heidelberg College

Heidelberg College is a liberal arts college located in Tiffin, Ohio. Founded in 1850 by the German Reformed Church and currently affiliated with the United Church of Christ, the school has grown from an initial graduating class of five to its current enrollment of approximately 1,500, including 1,100 traditional undergraduates. The college's student-faculty ratio is 12:1, and the male-female ratio of its current enrollment is 52-48. About eighty-five percent of students live in campus-owned housing.
Heidelberg's 110-acre campus includes 26 buildings, 10 which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Total tuition for the 2006-2007 academic year is $24,930, a relatively low private college tuition for Ohio and the surrounding region.
Ranked by U.S. News and World Report as one of the Midwest's top colleges for nineteen consecutive years, Heidelberg is also listed in the magazine's "Great Schools at a Great Price" category. The college offers a wide range of traditional liberal arts majors and grants bachelor's degrees in arts, science and music, and master's degrees in education, counseling and business administration. The college also offers several specialized programs in fields such as military archeology, water quality research, and women's professional development.
Heidelberg is affiliated with NCAA Division III athletics and is a member of the Ohio Athletic Conference, one of the oldest intercollegiate athletic conferences in the country. The college fields men's and women's teams in a number of sports: basketball, baseball, softball, football, cross-country, golf, soccer, tennis, and track and field. The school is known for its distinctive "Student Prince" mascot, originating from the German operetta of the same name. The Student Princes' football team won the 1972 Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl.
