Hapes Consortium
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the Star Wars Expanded Universe, the Hapes Consortium is an alliance of sixty-three worlds. It originated as a base for pirates and privateers, who would capture women and bring them back to the Hapes cluster, along with their riches. The pirates only allowed the most ravishing women to survive their depredation, and in an interesting example of negative eugenics, that practice led to the peoples of the Hapan Cluster being uniformly beautiful. Eventually the women staged an uprising and overthrew their male masters. They then established a matriarchal society, vowing that never again would they let themselves be ruled by men. Women became the dominant gender, forming a culture and social structure similar to that of the Amazons. All of their ships were commanded and crewed by women (with the sole exception being Prince Isolder who commands the Hapan Battle Dragon Song of War and his customized Miy'til fighter Storm) while the entire leadership consisted of women. Men played only secondary roles, as fathers and laborers. The men usually will leave the cluster and go pirating; they have an important role in the Hapan military and the women consider the piracy the men engage in to be completely acceptable.
The Consortium's capital world is the planet of Hapes itself. The chief of state is the Queen Mother. The Queen Mother is also head of the royal family. It is the task of the prince to find a wife who will give birth to the next Queen Mother.

The Hapes Consortium was militantly isolationist during the Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War until Coruscant was retaken and Princess Leia Organa went to Hapes and asked for their help against the Imperial Remnant. The Consortium accepted and captured several Imperial Star Destroyers for the New Republic. Shortly after, the Hapes Consortium brought with them multiple gifts for Princess Leia Organa, including captured Star Destroyers, various sacred treasures, and Prince Isolder himself, who had taken a keen interest in Leia. The Queen Mother felt that Leia was weak and ordered the assassination of both her and Isolder. This plot failed due to some quick thinking and the fact that Isolder had his most trusted bodyguard Astarta protecting him and Leia.
Han Solo, upon receiving news of this, resigned his commission and spirited Leia away to planet Dathomir, a world whose deed he won in a game of sabacc. Han did not know Dathomir was home to an Imperial shipyard and wound up in a short battle before crashing onto the planet. Prince Isolder and Luke Skywalker followed and also crashed. While on Dathomir, both Luke and Isolder were captured by Teneniel Djo, who was a member of the Singing Mountain Clan, a clan of Force-sensitive women who descended from exiled Jedi. Han and Leia were rescued from the Imperials by this same clan and were reunited with Luke and Isolder. Together they fought the Imperial forces and the Nightsisters, a clan of women who use the dark side of the Force. Prince Isolder fell in love with Teneniel Djo, who would become the new Queen Mother, against the original Queen Mother's will. The Queen Mother relented, knowing that she and her bodyguards were no match against Teneniel.
Several years later, Tenel Ka, daughter of Prince Isolder and Queen Mother Teneniel Djo joined Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy on Yavin Four. This next Queen Mother has the potential to be a Jedi Master.
Known planets include: Hapes (the capital) Olanji, Charubah, Gallinore, Selab, Arabanth, Ut, Vergill, Maires, Terephon, Reboam and Dreena.
The Hapes Consortium did not fare well during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, having lost a great deal of its fleet from battle with the Vong, and tragically from friendly fire when Anakin Solo reactivated Centerpoint Station, and Thrackan Sal-Solo impetuously (and without any skill) fired, and hit both the Hapan and Yuuzhan Vong fleets at Fondor. The fiasco largely took Hapes out of the war. Queen Mother Teneniel Djo's last official act was to begin the construction of a new fleet to replace the one lost at Fondor.
The Hapes Consortium, along with most large factions of the galaxy, sent a sizable fleet to protect Zonama Sekot during the Battle of Coruscant. The Vong were attempting to land a vessel infected with the Alpha Red virus, which would wipe out the living planet.
The Hapan Queen Mother, Tenel Ka, sent a Hapan fleet to aid the Killiks in their war against the Chiss.
After the formation of the Corellian Confederacy, a rival galactic civilisation group to the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances (GA for short), Corellia sent a secret fleet to support a coup in Hapes. Hapans participated on both sides of the battle, resulting in a bloody victory for the Queen Mother thanks to a timely warning from Han and Leia, and the arrival of Jacen Solo's fleet.
Much of Hape's strength was spent on this battle, resulting in reduced Hapan military activity under the GA.
