Guided Democracy or Managed Democracy is a term for the in fact democratic regime with increased autocracy. While following basic democratic principles there can be minor deviations towards totalitarism.

This style of government can be characterized by the partial (or even total) control over media and book publishing as well. It can even have some laws discriminating certain people, groups or other laws. Opponents to the regime can be sent into internal exile.

It is believed in Russia that this term (Managed Democracy) was introduced into common practice by Alexander Voloshin (Russian: Управляемая демократия). Note here that in Russian language the word managed slightly differs from the word guided (last one means something like forwarded) though nobody accents on their meaning differences.
