Great crisis! The Konoha 11 all gather (Japanese: 大ピンチ! 木の葉の11人全員集合 - Daipinchi! Konoha no jūichi nin zen'in shūgō) is episode 197 of the anime series Naruto. It is the first episode of the Konoha 11 arc.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Naruto and Sakura are walking through the village discussing all the new construction. Naruto greets one of the workers, an old man from the Sand Country as someone he's come to befriend. The group meet for ramen later that night, and the old man shares his leftovers with Naruto before saying to himself that it's time to get to work. Woken when he falls out of bed, Naruto briefly sees what he thinks is fog out his window.

In reality, the fog was just a smokescreen used by a master trap shinobi named Gennou so that he could escape with blueprints of many of Konoha's major buildings. Gennou is pursued by ANBU and eventually is cornered. He blows himself up with a jacket full of explosive notes, but not before bragging that he doesn't have the blueprints with him and that he regrets that he won't be around to see Konoha destroyed.

Awoken by this troubling news, Tsunade calls most of the village's available jonin and sends them north to deal with a feared invasion from the North (it's unclear exactly what the purpose or relevance of this action is, but as usual, it gets all of the most powerful ninja out of the way, leaving things up to the genin). Meanwhile, she assigns the task of tracking down the missing blueprints to Shikamaru, who assembles all of the familiar genin from the series. After meeting in a clearing Shikamaru shows everyone a picture of Gennou. Upon seeing the picture Naruto is shocked to find that it is the same friendly old man from earlier. The genin split up into different teams. Lee, Neji, Hinata, and Tenten all set out to search for traps. Shino and Kiba try to track down the blueprints. Sakura and Ino are sent to view the old man's cadaver for clues. Naruto ends up with Choji and Shikamaru, tracking down the old man's known movements. As they investigate, they discover several seemingly trivial clues which are nevertheless highlighted as being somehow significant:

  • Gennou used a faked letter of recommendation to get a job working for the master carpenter. The head carpenter realized it was a fake after comparing it to the handwriting of an older letter from 12 years ago. However, when he tries to retrieve this older letter, he finds that it is missing.
  • The old man's apartment is nearly devoid of any real food, suggesting that he ate out a lot.
  • The old man apparently happily spoke about Naruto to his fellow workers often.

Just as this last clue is discovered, ANBU members surround Naruto and demand that he come with them. It seems that Naruto is now under suspicion in the plot.
