Grasshopper Manufacture is a Japanese video game development house which gained mainstream notoriety for the GameCube and PlayStation 2 game Killer7. In addition to Killer7, they have developed Michigan (released in Japan and Europe) and a number of Japan-only titles. It is headed-up by Goichi Suda, also known as Suda 51. Grasshopper Manufacture was recently responsible for the Nintendo DS game Contact which was published by Marvelous Entertainment in Japan and was released in North America by Atlus on October 19, 2006. Grasshopper also created a PlayStation 2 game based on the popular anime franchise Samurai Champloo called Samurai Champloo: Sidetracked, which was released by Bandai in both Japan and North America. They also created the game Blood +: One Night Kiss based on the Blood+ anime series.

In many recent interviews, Suda 51 has mentioned that Grasshopper is currently working on a game called No More Heroes for Nintendo's Wii which "will focus heavily on direct input through the controller, and will exceed Killer7." At the 2007 Game Developers Conference, Suda 51 announced that Grasshopper is also working on two additional titles for the Wii. On top of this, Grasshopper is also said to be working on a concept for a PlayStation 3 game called Kurayami. Kurayami is an action and non-linear adventure that is inspired by the worrying and confused universe of the Czech writer Franz Kafka who Suda Goichi admires very much. However, development on this title has not begun just yet.
