Lieutenant Governor of Utah

The Office of the Lieutenant Governor in Utah was created in 1976. There have only been six Lieutenant Governors in Utah's history. Prior to the creation of the Lieutenant Governor's office, the succession to the Governor in Utah was held by the Secretary of State. The office of the Secretary of State in Utah was abolished in 1976 and those duties given to the Lieutenant Governor.
