The Ghicas were a noble family, ruling Wallachia and Moldavia for much of the period from the 17th century through the 19th century, who remained present in modern Romania.

Likely of Aromanian heritage, the Ghicas originated in Albania and came north to Wallachia during the Ottoman period (Ghica is a very common last name in Albania).
