Friedrich Wannieck

Friedrich Wannieck (father of Friedrich Oskar Wannieck) was a prostigous and wealthy Austrian/German industrialist most notable for his succesful business ventures of the organisation and publishing house Verein "Deutsche Haus" ("German House" Association) [1] [2] in Brünn, of which he was president, the 'Prague Iron Company' and the 'First Brno Engineering Company', of which he was chairman and for his entusiastic support for Guido von List.
He, along with his son, were two of the initial signees creating the Guido-von-List-Gesellschaft in support of their good friend Guido von List.
He was an Armanist and supporter of the Armanen runes system.
He was an ardent spiritualist and firm believer in Theosophical mahatmas, Morya and Koot Hoomi [1]

In 1888 there was an historical work entitled Der altdeutsche Volksstamm der Quaden [The Ancient German Quadi Trive] by Heinrich Kirchmayr of which the publisher was the organisation and publishing house Verein "Deutsche Haus" ("German House" Association) [3] [4] in Brünn, whose president was the industralist Friedrich Wannieck.
He was also chairman of the 'Prague Iron Company' and the 'First Brno Engineering Company', both major producers of capital goods in the Habsburg empire.
The Verein "Deutsche Haus" was apparently a nationalist association for German inhabitants of Brno, who felt encircled by the overwhelming Czech population of South Moravia.
Wannieck was impressed by the parallels between List's clairvoyant account of the Quadi and the academic study of Kirchmayr.
Between Wannieck and List there developed a regular correspondence that laid the basis of a lasting friendship.
The Verein "Deutsche Haus" later published 3 of List's works in its own book-series of nationalist studies of history and literature, while Wannieck's munificence eventually led to the foundation of Guido-von-List-Gesellschaft twenty years later.
He was an Armanist and supporter of the Armanen runes system.
Around 1905 Wannieck's son, Friedrich Oskar Wannieck, with him, signed the first announcement for the formation of the Guido-von-List-Gesellschaft. See Guido-von-List-Gesellschaft for the influence and founding of the society.
