Frank Infante

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Frank Infante was the guitar player of the Power Pop/New Wave Band Blondie. Prior to Blondie he played guitar in heavy electric blues groups such as The Elegant End and World War III. He joined Blondie in 1977, bringing with him the heavy rock style integral to their "power-pop" sound. He plays on their second album Plastic Letters, but was not pictured on the album cover. He was their bassist until Nigel Harrison joined the group in 1977, at which time Harrison took over the bass chair and Infante switched to guitar. Both he and Harrison stayed with the band until it broke up in the mid-1980s, and they were both left out of the band when it reformed in 1999.

He wrote some of Blondie's most unique songs, including "Underground Girl", "Victor", and "I Know But I Don't Know". He also played the main guitar hook on "Heart Of Glass" and the guitar solo on "Rapture". He has toured and recorded with Iggy Pop, Divinyls, and played guitar on albums by Stiv Bators, Sylvain Sylvain and Joan Jett. Little known fact: he played the electric guitar lines on "What's Going On?" by 4 Non-Blondes. Frank currently lives in Los Angeles, California.

Frank Infante was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with the rest of Blondie in 2006.
