The Flyvefisken class patrol vessels are warships of the Royal Danish Navy. The class is also known as the Standardflex 300 or SF300 class.

The Flyvefisken ships are innovative in that they were built with a modular design: they have a standard hull in which containerised weapon systems can be placed. This allows them to change roles. Typically 48 hours are necessary to change roles. This enables the ships to be configured to perform these roles:

  • surveillance
  • surface combat
  • anti-submarine warfare (ASW)
  • mine countermeasures/minehunter
  • minelayer
  • pollution control

The containers measure 3.5x3x2.5 m. One container goes on the foredeck; the other 3 go on the quarterdeck behind the superstructure and funnel.

Series 1 = P550-P556, series 2 = P557-P562, series 3 = P563.
The difference between the series is mainly in the configuration of the propulsion system. Series 2 is not equipped with hydraulic propulsion, but instead has one more aux. engine, and series 3 has further one aux. engine.

Complement: 19-29 depending on role

  • Length: 54 m (177.2 ft)
  • Beam: 9 m (29.5 ft)
  • Draught: 2.5 m (8.2 ft)

Uses combined diesel and gas engines:

  • 1 × General Electric LM500 gas turbine 4066 kW (5450 hp)
  • 2 MTU 16V 396TB94 diesels 4226 kW (5440 hp) total
  • 1 auxiliary GM 12V-71 diesel, 373 kW (540 hp) Hydraulic propulsion
  • 3 auxiliary GM 6-71 diesel generators
  • Speed: 30 kt (turbine+diesels); 20 kt on MTU's; 7 kt on hydraulic drive - Range 3860 km at 18 kt

The armament depends on the ships current role, but include the following options:

  • Terma Scanter Mil 009 navigational radar
  • Thales TMS 2640 Salmon variable depth sonar (only in MCM-configuration)
