The autonomous community of Madrid and its capital city, Madrid, each have their own flags.

The flag of the Autonomous Community of Madrid is a red field on which are centered seven five-pointed white stars aligned in two rows, four on the top and three underneath. Each star represents one of the administrative areas of the province of Madrid, which are the City of Madrid, Alcalá de Henares, Torrelaguna, San Martín de Valdeiglesias, El Escorial, Getafe and Chinchón. Together the stars are said to represent the asterism in Ursa Major known as the Plough or Big Dipper.[1]

The flag of the City of Madrid is a crimson (carmesí) field on which is centered the city's coat of arms which depict a bear standing against a Strawberry Tree (madroño), within a blue frame around which are distributed seven six-pointed white stars, all surmounted by a royal crown. The flag is made either in the proportions 3:5 or 2:3, and in shades of crimson corresponding to Pantone 207 or 208.
