Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design is a university in Vancouver, BC, Canada. It is named for Canadian artist Emily Carr.

The school was founded by the Vancouver School of Decorative and Applied Arts in 1925, and later known as Vancouver School of Art: Decorative and Applied (1933), Vancouver School of Art (1937), Emily Carr College of Art (1978), and Emily Carr College of Art and Design (1981). In 1995, the school was renamed Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design.

Emily Carr Institute is one of Canada's best known Art and Design universities and specializes in sustainable design, visual arts, media, interactive media, animation, industrial design, communication design and general fine arts.

The current president of the institute is Dr. Ron Burnett.

Emily Carr Institute is located on the Vancouver tourist attraction Granville Island. It is composed of two buildings, the South building and the North building, the latter of which was once a fish canning factory. A second campus at Great Northern Way is operated in conjunction with BCIT, the University of British Columbia, and Simon Fraser University.

Current degree programs include:

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts, General Fine Arts, or Photography
  • Bachelor of Design in Communication Design or Industrial Design
  • Bachelor of Media Arts degrees in Animation or Integrated Media
  • Masters of Applied Arts in Visual Arts, Design and Media Arts (2006)
