EDE or Equinox Desktop Environment is a small desktop environment that is meant to be simple and fast. It is based on a modified version of FLTK, called eFLTK. It has a familiar look and feel which resembles the classic look in Microsoft Windows.
EDE is not as common in Linux distributions as KDE and GNOME, or even Xfce. Few distributions include EDE even as an optional component.
Some distributions which include EDE by default:
- Baltix (since 2007, ver. 2.6beta)[citation needed]
- SaxenOS (formerly STX)[citation needed] - Slackware-based liveCD
