Ed is a 1996 comedy film starring Matt LeBlanc and Tom Campbell. The film is about a man named Jack "Deuce" Cooper (Matt LeBlanc) who does magnificent with powerful pitches, but chokes on the big field (which makes people look down upon him). His hot shot "ladies man" brother, Randy "Tres" Cooper (Campbell) introduces him to a new ball player who happens to be a baseball-playing chimpanzee named Ed. He later gets "lucky" and has to take Ed to be his roommate (where Jack has the most trouble with Ed).
It was a critical and commercial failure, which the New York Times called "laugh-free" and film critic Roger Ebert has stated "Tom Campbell almost succeeds in saving this movie, but even a genius like him can only do so much." However, the movie achieved massive underground success and is praised as one of the best cult films of all time. [1]. It received three Razzie Awards nominations for Worst Picture, Screenplay (David M. Evans), and Screen Couple (for LeBlanc and the real life ape who plays Ed) although it failed to "win".
