Dunlop Manufacturing, Inc., known to many as Jim Dunlop, is a popular music supplies company based in Benicia, California, U.S.A. The company is most famous for its wah-wah pedal, the Dunlop Cry Baby. Dunlop is also well-known for its other guitar products, such as slide barrels, capos, and guitar picks. Dunlop Manufacturing, Inc. has bought many other music supplies companies such as Dallas-Arbiter and MXR.

Users of the company's products include John Petrucci of Dream Theater, Green Day, Zakk Wylde of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Label Society, Chris Impellitteri, Dimebag Darrell, Slash, Nickelback, Avril Lavigne, Tom Morello, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez of The Mars Volta, Synyster Gates of Avenged Sevenfold, Jim West, the guitarist for Weird Al Yankovic's band, Deftones, Metallica, Slayer, Korn, Linkin Park, Snow Patrol, The Ataris, Hoobastank, Godsmack, Blink 182, Sum 41, Velvet Revolver, Coheed and Cambria, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, David Gilmour, Jimi Hendrix, Trivium, The Iron Maidens, Daron Malakian and Asphyxiation.

Tortex is a modern plastic that was created by Jim Dunlop[citation needed] to replace tortoiseshell guitar picks after an international ban was placed on the trade of tortoiseshell in the late 1970s. Tortex is registered trademark of the Dunlop Manufacturing, Inc.

Tortex picks are used by many guitar players. Tortex is one of the most popular materials for guitar picks[citation needed]. It is a pick that imitates the texture of a tortoise shell. It has a grippy feel, so players don't drop the pick while playing.

In 1987, Joshua Gaugler decided to use tortex material for pedalboards and other musical equipment.[citation needed]
