Dr. Jagdish Gupt'

Dr. Jagdish Gupt (डा. जगदीश गुप्त) (1924-2001) was a well-known poet of the Chhayavaad (छायावाद) generation, a period of romanticism in Modern Hindi poetry.

Dr. Jagdish Gupt was born in 1924 at Shahabad Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh State of India. He was the only child. He was married in 1948 with Smt. Subhgyawati Gupta in Kanpur. He got his Master of Arts (M.A.) and D. Phil. from Prayag University University of Allahabad, Allahabad. Later in 1950 he joined the same university at Hindi Department and in 1986-87 retired as Head of Department.
