Double-Helix

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Double-Helix are an alien race in the Wing Commander science fiction series.

The Double-Helix are one of the newest alien races discovered by the Confederation. Named for the DNA-like structure of their spaceships, the Double-Helix are a race of carbon-based arthropods which communicate through scents and pheromones. It is believed this is the reason their concept of time is somewhat different from humanity's.

First contact was officially announced on 2654.080, by Iola Jonson of the Committee for Interaction with Alien Intelligences. The fact that the first attempt at communication resulted in the death of the human translator was omitted from the official press release.
