Develi

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Develi is a district of Kayseri Province of Turkey. The town of Develi was once composed of four adjoining villages, the Turkish town of Develi, Greek district of Agiostan, and the two Armenian villages of Evereg and Fenesse (which were considered different towns because they were separated by the Turkish quarter). During the Armenian Genocide of 1915, the Armenian population was largely destroyed, however some survivors returned and one of the Armenian churches was kept open until the 1960's.[citation needed]
