AC Delco

AC Delco is an automotive parts supplier and repair shop operator. It is a division of General Motors.
In 1899, Albert Champion, a French bike racer, moved to the United States where he started to make and sell his own spark plugs. In 1908 he joined the Buick Motor Company forming the AC spark plug division.
Buick became part of General United Motors in 1916 which then merged with Chevrolet to become General Motors. In 1935 the General Motors Parts Division was formed which included AC. In 1974 this became the AC Delco Division.
AC spark plugs were used in 1927 for Charles A. Lindbergh's transatlantic flight and in 1932 for Amelia Earhart's transatlantic solo flight.
In 1997 AC Delco sponsored the Nascar Busch Series driver Steve Park continuing this in 1999 when Dale Earnhardt Inc. took over with driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. AC also sponsor the #2 NASCAR Busch Series car.
