Del Rey Books

Del Rey Books is a branch of Ballantine Books, which is owned by Random House. It is a separate imprint established in 1977 under the editorship of author Lester del Rey and his wife Judy-Lynn del Rey. It specializes in science fiction and fantasy books, as well as manga under its Del Rey Manga imprint.

Del Rey's standings for Star Wars in their New Jedi Order-Legacy of the Force series have come under harsh criticism of fans of Bantam Books and the Star Wars: Original Trilogy. Detractors complain that there is not enough variety to the books, that every series has been a galaxy-level war, and that the series has been too dark.
