Dawson's Creek third season started on September 29, 1999 and ended May 24, 2000. This season takes place on the characters' junior year of high-school.

The Complete Third Season DVD was released on June 29, 2004 including all the 23 episodes.

As was the case in the Season 2 release, the Season 3 DVD set contains replacement songs from what was heard during the actual broadcast airings.

This release is also absent of the infamous Dawson's Creek theme song, "I Don't Want To Wait" by Paula Cole. In its replacement, "Run Like Mad" by Jann Arden dons the opening credits. "Run Like Mad" was the song heard during the opening credits of Season 1 international airings.

  • Kerr Smith (Jack) and Meredith Monroe (Andie) are added to the opening credits.
  • The opening sequence for half the season follows the past seasons format which are scenes of the cast together in the creek. However, it later changed to a recompilation of some episode scenes. This second version of this season's opening credits remained the same for the fourth season opening credits and wasn't changed until the fifth season.
