Dark Reaper

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dark Reaper is a fictional object from the Star Wars Expanded Universe. It is a weapon crafted during the Great Sith War (4,000 BBY). The Reaper had 2 weapons: four miniguns and a laser beam. It also had so-called harvester bays that fired energy orbs at enemies. When an orb got close, it exploded, causing heavy damage. The orbs could be destroyed quite easily.

The Dark Reaper is also from the game Warhammer 40,000, and is an Aspect of the Eldar.

As its name implies, it was so powerful that no platoon could withstand it. The Dark Reaper required tremendous amounts of power in order to function. Its power source is called the Force Harvester. The Force Harvester sucked the living Force out of everything in a certain area and converted it to pure energy. In order to defeat the Dark Reaper, an ancient Jedi Knight named Ulic Qel-Droma taught the Jedi Knights how to withstand the Dark Reaper's effects. The Dark Reaper was buried on Thule, just waiting for someone to find it.

During the Clone Wars, Count Dooku and his mercenary Cydon Prax excavated on Raxus Prime, and found the Force Harvester in order to revive the Dark Reaper to destroy the Galactic Republic. He used Cydon Prax to activate the Force Harvester to destroy the forest on the Kashyyyk moon, Alaris Prime. Count Dooku took off and found the pieces of the Dark Reaper. He went to Thule and revived the Dark Reaper. On Rhen Var, Anakin Skywalker went to the monument of Ulic Qel-Droma for information on how to defeat the Dark Reaper. Shortly after the Dark Reaper was revived, he withstood its effects and redefeated it.

In the fictional Star Wars Expanded Universe, the Dark Reaper Project is the name given to a series of connected battles and military actions at the beginning of the Clone Wars.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

As the Clone Wars were beginning, the Republic and Separatists seemed to be at an impasse. In a surprising move, the Separatists attacked the remote world of Rhen Var. As the Jedi soon discovered, it was but the first step in a Confederacy plot to assemble an ancient Sith weapon of mass destruction (named the Dark Reaper) which operated by absorbing the power of the Force. Anakin Skywalker, Mace Windu and Obi-Wan Kenobi led their forces on the scattered battlefronts of Rhen Var, Raxus Prime, one of Kashyyyk's moons and Thule to stop Count Dooku's scheme.

The Force Harvester is a part of the Dark Reaper and its main weapon. Count Dooku found it on Raxus Prime and used it, to great effect, to devastate a Kashyyyk forest on the Kashyyyk Moon, Alaris Prime. It harvests the Force and seems to be able to charge itself on the Force. The Force Harvester is an ancient Sith artifact. It was also used on planets Agamar, Mon Calamari and Bakura. It is seen in the Xbox, Playstation 2, and GameCube game Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

In the expanded universe during the Great Sith War, there is barely mention of the Dark Reaper.
