Daniel "Danny" Guthrie (born April 18, 1987 in Shrewsbury) is a young central midfielder with Liverpool F.C. who is currently on loan to Southampton. He signed for Liverpool as a 15 year old after being released by Manchester United.

His displays in Liverpool's Academy side earned him a call-up to the England schoolboy side. As a regular member of the reserve squad he has moved to Melwood to join training with the senior team.He is a regular captain of the reserve squad. He is also hailed as "The Next Steven Gerrard" by the Liverpool fans

His first appearance with the senior team came in the summer 2006 pre-season friendly at Wrexham, where he played as a left midfielder. He made his competitive first team debut after being named on the bench in a League Cup tie against Reading on 25 October 2006, coming on as a 62nd minute substitute for Momo Sissoko. A month later he made is league debut, again as a substitute, against Portsmouth. He started his first match for Liverpool in the European Champions League against Galatasaray on 5 December 2006. Danny's most recent appearance came in the 2-1 defeat at St James' Park against Newcastle on Saturday 10 February 2007.

On March 2, 2007 Guthrie signed for Southampton on an emergency loan deal until the end of the month[1][2].
