Daily Times (Pakistan)

The Daily Times is an English language Pakistani newspaper. Launched on April 9, 2002, Daily Times (DT), which is simultaneously published from Lahore and Karachi, is edited by Pakistan’s renowned, articulate and bold journalist, Najam Sethi. Yousaf Rafiq is the Acting Resident Editor of Daily Times at Karachi. DT is represented by Rana Qaiser [editor's favourite] in Islamabad, Iqbal Khattak in Peshawar (NWFP) and Malik Siraj Akbar in Quetta (Balochistan). Ifthakar Gilani (New Delhi, India) and Khalid Hassan (Washington, USA) [subeditors' favourite] are two of the noted journalists working with Daily Times as its [F]oreign [C]orrespondents.

Daily Times is widely recogni[z]ed [this piece needs quality by Mateen] as a newspaper that advocates liberal and secular ideas. DT has gained popularity as well as notoriety due to some of its highly controversial editorials. For example, DT came under blistering criticism of the ethnic Pashtoon community at the end of 2006 when it published a highly controversial editorial “ Say no to Naswar”.

The main contributors on DT’s Op-Ed Page are Dr.Saleem Ali, Dr. Hassan Askari Rizvi, Irfan Hussain, Khalid Ahmed, Khalid Hassan, Ejaz Haider, Mehreen Zehra-Malik, Kamran Shafi, Tanveer Ahmed Khan, Dr. Ayasha Siddiqa, Munir Attaullah and several others.
