The Da'an District (Traditional Chinese: 大安區; Hanyu Pinyin: Dà'ān Qū; Tongyong Pinyin: Dà-an Cyu; Wade-Giles: Ta-an Ch'u; Taiwanese: Tōa-an-khu) is an important educational, commercial, residential and cultural district of Taipei City. The name of the district means "great safety" or "great peace", and the district is named after a village that was once located near the intersection of Xinyi and Fuxing S. Roads. The name "Daan" is pronounced as two syllables ("Da-an"), rather than one.

The district is the home of three national universities: National Taiwan University (NTU), National Taipei University of Technology, and National Taiwan Normal University. The former two universities have strong engineering programs. (NTU has a highly-regarded medical school, but it is located in the Zhongzheng District.)

Daan has numerous shopping areas. On Zhongxiao East Road, Dunhua South Road and neighboring alleys, there are clothing shops, restaurants serving world cuisines, and major department stores including three branches of the Sogo Department Store, the Ming Yao Department Store, and the immense 24-hour Eslite bookstore. Specialty markets include the Jianguo Weekend Flower Market, the Jianguo Weekend Jade Market, and the Guanghua (Computer and Electronics) Bazaar.

Daan also offers some of Taipei's most expensive residential real estate, clustered around the tree-lined Dunhua South Road, Anhe Road and Renai Road areas. In these locales are found numerous upscale fashion boutiques, elite retail shops including Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, and many of Taipei's renowned "lounge bars".

Places of worship in Daan include the Mormon Temple, the Taipei Grand Mosque, the Epicospal Church, and the Holy Family Catholic Church. The Holy See maintains a representative office in this district. Xinsheng S. Rd is nicknamed "The Road to Heaven" because of its high concentration of churches.

Other attractions include the Daan Forest Park, which was built on land formerly occupied by military officers and their families, and the Taipei Municipal Library.
