Cyril Toumanoff

Prince Cyril Toumanoff (born Toumanishvili) (1913 – 1997) was a Russian-born historian and genealogist of Georgian origin who mostly specialized in the history of Armenia and Georgia.
He was born in Saint Petersburg, but emigrated to the United States in 1928. He earned a doctorate from Georgetown University in 1943 and accepted a position there, holding it until his retirement, as a professor emeritus of history, in 1970. A recognized authority on nobiliary and dynastic questions, he was also a high official of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
